OUR ARTISTS

Pete Stothard

pete-stothard-in-my-own-wordsSinger/guitarist Pete Stothard is well known on the Country & Western and Line Dance scene, having been brought up in the world of country music from an early age. Pete formed the Texas Tornados late in 2004 and the band was soon creating a buzz on the country circuit. By the summer of 2009 they had become one of the most sought-after Country & Western bands in the UK.

Pete's solo career has seen him broaden his musical horizons. While his Country roots are still very much in evidence, his albums under Georgia Records take in Rock 'n' Roll and Rockabilly. Pete has several EP and album releases on the label: 'The Pete Stothard Song Book' album (including his Line Dance hit 'Shake Your Boogie and Roll'); 'In my own words' (Pete Stothard EP), and his singles 'Keep On Rockin' Me' and 'You're Dynamite'.

Kelly

Kelly Bull, singer on Georgia Records label

An extraordinarly talented singer with a voice that can be soulful and smooth or demanding and gritty, whatever suits the track. Georgia Records released Kelly's version of 'Baby I Love Ya' last year, available on iTunes, and her latest track, 'Showed Up Late' - a Harwood/Leray song - which was released at the end of March 2016.

Kelly graduated from Chichester University in 2008 where she trained in contemporary dance and was part of a touring dance company. Since then she has formed her own dance company and teaches dance, but her other passion lies in singing, something she's been doing from a very early age. As well as fronting the Mike Wells Band, Kelly has performed in venues as diverse as The Royal Albert Hall, The Houses of Parliament and, for the Queen's Golden Jubilee, as part of Stagecoach when she was younger.

Her main musical inspirations come from artists such as Eva Cassidy to Alicia Keys, and from a variety of musical styles from Motown to musical theatre.

Allan Turner-Ward

ott-this-xmas-cover

Allan is from the South of England and shot to a degree of fame after making it through to the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent, where he DJ'd two of his own original compositions, "Shake the Knees" and "Model Pose".

In 2001, Allan was signed to RCA Records in Germany thanks to "Shake the Knees", a song that went to number one on MTV Europe, but his main work is as a DJ in the UK and overseas. Having worked as a DJ for Disney in California, he later produced and hosted his own music shows and warmed up for US TV show American Gladiator on NBC. More recently he has been the host DJ at a major annual New Year's party event in Dubai, but his regular work sees him performing on the south coast of England, and in Manchester in the North. Allan also does radio, presenting up and coming music, as well as putting his own unique style on talk shows.

Allan recently worked with Ronnie Harwood and Ricky-D on the Christmas single, "Over The Top This Christmas", and expect to see more of Allan's own original work being released under the Georgia Records label.

Florida Sun

florida-sun album2 coverFlorida Sun was formed back in 1985 by Carlo Little, Ronnie Harwood and Mick Richardson, who also formed their own record label, Sparkle Records. Their first release was 'If dreams come true', a big hit on BBC Radio 2 but it failed to make the charts. Two other singles followed, both getting Radio 2 airplay, and in 1987, Florida Sun were signed to Tembo Records by A/R man Ian Summers.

By this time, Mick Richardson had left the band, but alongside a talented group of musicians, Carlo and Ronnie steered Florida Sun to their first album, released in 1987. The single 'Hurt' was released from the album and was another big Radio 2 success. The record label was asked by Billy Butler, a well known DJ on Radio 2 Merseyside, to perform at the Liverpool Empire. The concert was a great success but that turned out to be the last time Carlo and Ronnie worked together, after agreeing to go their separate ways. However, many fans of the band's songs and musical style asked for another album, and so, 26 years on, we have the Florida Sun 2 album released on Georgia Records.

The Savages

savages out-of-the-jungle coverThree of the uniquely memorable Savages, backing band of Screaming Lord Sutch during the 1960s - drummer Carlo Little, vocalist and guitarist Ronnie Harwood, and bass player Rick Brown - came together in the studio at Sweet Georgia Browns in Hornsey Road, North London, on a hot summer's day in July 2001. A rare studio reunion of old friends and they made the most of their short time together. Along with three invited musicians well known to them and celebrated in their own right - Geraint Watkins on piano, Roger McKew on guitar, and Andy Hamilton on tenor sax - four live studio tracks were recorded.

It had been a session amongst friends, a chance to relax and enjoy making music together again. There had been no plan to release the tracks and so, over ten years later, it was thought the tapes had been lost forever. But when bass player Rick Brown moved house, the tapes turned up, having been in Rick's loft all that time. The result is the EP 'Out of the Jungle' released on Georgia Records in 2014.

Johnny Red

johnny-red here-in-my-world coverWell known as frontman of Johnny and the Jailbirds, a band formed in 1973 that went on to tour Europe for seven years and release several albums, Johnny Red became the voice of one of the great British Rock 'n' Roll bands. Outside of the band, which continues to perform with a new lineup, Johnny's solo career has seen him explore other musical styles.

Johnny had moved from South East London to Northamptonshire before forming the band, and it was when Ronnie Harwood also moved to Wellingborough in Northants many years later that they first met and found they shared a lot in common, having both grown up on Rock and Roll. Johnny said he'd like to record some of Ronnie's songs and the latest release on the Georgia Records label is an EP - Here In My World -  covering both familiar and new ground for the singer. The title track, written by Ivor Novello award winners, Ronnie Harwood and Tony Hiller, reveals a fabulous extra dimension to Johnny's vocal, perfectly accompanied by a wonderful tenor sax solo by Andy Hamilton, with James Compton on piano and accordian, Jay Stapley on guitar, Matt Holland on trumpet and Samantha Scott on backing vocals.
